Question 1

What are the best plants to use around a swim spa?

Accepted Answer

Choose plants for durability, low maintenance, and climate suitability. Ornamental grasses (Fountain Grass), evergreen shrubs (e.g., Boxwood), and hardy perennials (Lavender) are excellent choices. Avoid plants that drop excessive leaves, berries, or petals directly into the water, as they can clog filters and alter chemistry.

Question 2

Can a swim spa be installed in-ground?

Accepted Answer

Yes, partially in-ground installation is a very popular option. It creates a built-in, seamless look and can make entry and exit easier. This requires significant excavation, proper drainage, and often a retaining wall. It is not a DIY project; you must work with an experienced installer to ensure the spa's structural integrity and access panels are not compromised.

Question 4

What is the best decking material to use around a swim spa?

Accepted Answer

The best materials are slip-resistant, durable, and weather-proof. Composite decking is a top choice for its low maintenance and resistance to rot and splinters. Natural stone (like travertine or bluestone) is beautiful and cool underfoot but can be pricey. Textured concrete is an extremely durable and cost-effective option that can be stained to match any design.
